Assassin’s Creed Unity – E3 Discussion

To anyone who watched E3, Assassin’s Creed Unity was one of the heavily featured games which was previewed in not one but two conferences, for Microsoft and Ubisoft.  The biggest reveal at E3 was the four player co-op mode which they showed off during Microsoft’s conference first. With this mode the players shown pulled off quite the daring assassination… or at least were a major cause of someones death as the gameplay showed the players tossing the target out of the window to the angry mob below which finished the job.

To those not terribly familiar with the game itself Assassin’s Creed Unity is the newest installment in the AC series.  It is set in France during the French Revolution, and is (so far) next-gen only.  While Ubisoft has stated they do have something in the works for XB360/PS3 owners (heavily rumored to be called Assassin’s Creed Comet) there has been no word as of yet what those plans truly entail and with the November release date for ACU looming it is interesting to note that nothing has been said yet.  Whether or not Ubisoft plans to wait until Gamescom in August is yet to be seen, but that may be too late to boost sales up for the last-gen game if it is set to hit the same release window as ACU.

On a last note, ACU’s single player was shown off during the Ubisoft conference and while it followed the player traversing the world on the hunt for his target it was notable to see how many different “side missions” they skipped in order to complete the demo.  It is also worth noting that in both demos there was a mass of people on the streets partaking in several actions whether it be looting, murdering or just rioting.  ACU seems set to be the most ambitious game in the AC series, and looks to be working with the capabilities of the next-gen consoles to bring a truly awesome experience!
